£52m Chelsea target Cavani could sign €7.5m contract to stay with Napoli - report

Afellay And Cavani

According to reports in Italy the Chelsea target could stay in Serie A after all this summer.
Yesterday it was reported that Edinson Cavani had agreed personal terms with Chelsea over a projected move to the club this summer as the protracted discussion over his future at Napoli continues.
With speculation this morning that Chelsea were now ready to make a bid for the player believed to be in the £45 million region, £7 million short of the official asking price, it seemed as though finally this was a deal finally nearing a conclusion.
Cavani has been the subject of relentless transfer talk in recent weeks and it appears to be getting to the striking sensation.
All he wants to do is focus on a game against Italy in the Confederations Cup third/fourth placed playoff tie this evening; but instead he is deflecting more and more questions over his next move and whether he will be living in Campania, Alderley Edge or Surrey next year:
“My future? Too many things have been said over the last few days, so it is best to just stay quiet. At the start I wasn’t bothered by all the speculation, but I have to admit now it is disturbing me. I want to focus on Uruguay and this match.”
Well Edinson; if for some odd reason you are reading it is possibly best you click the cross in the right hand corner of your screen now because speculation is certainly continuing about your future; but rather than speculation of you leaving the latest news suggests you could be going nowhere.
Italian source Tuttosport suggest today that rather than leave the club this summer he might actually be on the verge of putting pen to paper on a new deal to keep him at the Stadio San Paolo.
The deal would reportedly keep him at the Partenopei until 2018 on a contract worth €7.5 million-per-season.
And that deal would probably include a release clause somewhere in the region of £1 billion. Can just see Aurelio De Laurentiis doing his best Doctor Evil impression right now.
So could Cavani stay in Italy after all?
